Hi, I'm Nikki, the single mom behind Expatically Nomadic. This work grew from a moment when everything changed. Even while working full-time, taking on side hustles, and building a small business, my daughter and I experienced homelessness and lived in our vehicle. That challenging time in our lives forced me to recognize both that I was not surviving, and also that surviving was not the same as thriving. I accepted that continuing to push harder would not create the kind of life that I wanted for us, that I felt we both deserved. I wanted a life for us that was financially sustainable and gave me time to be a present parent — a life with greater balance. I also desired more time and room to care for myself physically, mentally, and spiritually, and in places that more aligned with what we truly value, environments where I felt my daughter would also grow and thrive. I began to see the world as a big place, and I began choosing alignment instead: a life abroad, built intentionally and on our own terms. Today, my daughter and I are slow-traveling together and sharing the honest realities, challenges, and victories of building a life beyond borders.
